Alexander climbed the highest of these peaks solo in the summer of 2013. These peaks rise out of the dream like haze as almost mythical unassailable spires of dolomitic rock. Between Val di Funes and Val Gardena, there is the Odle mountain group. This famous mountain massif of the Dolomites is located between the Val di Funes and the Val Gardena, in the heart of the Puez-Odle nature park. The main peak of this mountain range is the Sass Rigais, which is 3,025 m high - like the neighbouring Furchetta. The Sass Rigais can be scaled both from Val Gardena and Val di Funes, via fixed-rope route. The Dolomites are a mountain range located in northeastern Italy. They form a part of the Southern Limestone Alps and extend from the River Adige in the west to the Piave Valley (Pieve di Cadore) in the east.
