The Sacred Valley of the Incas, or the Urubamba Valley, is a valley in the Andes of Peru. In colonial documents it was referred to as the Valley of Yucay. This valley was incorporated slowly into the incipient Inca Empire during the period from 1000 to 1400 CE. This vista encompasses the soaring frozen heights of the Andes mountains down to the cloud forests and tropical amazonian valleys. The Valley contains many Inca ruins such as the sites Winay Wayna and Puyupatamarca depicted in this painting. These ruins have an energetic vibratory field in harmony with the surrounding landscape and mark out astrological patterns on the jungle covered mountains mirroring the nebula in the night sky. The flowers in the painting such as orchids and bell trumpets are all native to the region of the Inca trail. Chacruna and Banisteriopsis Caapi vines are depicted which make up the entheogenic brew called Ayahuasca which the Inca shamans used in their ceremonies to expand their consciousness.
