These Inca shaman masks depict the roles of the puma and condor. Worn during ceremonies of San Pedro (a psychoactive cactus) and ayahuasca, (the vine of the souls) which is an enthogenic brew that brings great healing through visions and purging the body of toxins. The shaman has transcendental power to shape shift into such creatures bodies to help their tribe with valuable information about hunting and gathering foodstuffs. Such mystery ceremonies are described in The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castenada. As the shaman realigns and works with the morphogenetic field resonating from the earth techniques for self healing radiate outwards to the group for collective and holistic curative therapies.
